Get a custom tour quote Day 1: We start off your 10-day golf tour of Scotland and Ireland in the Irish Capital: Dublin. Your driver-guide will be waiting to collect you from the airport and show you to your luxury touring vehicle before taking you on a short city tour of Dublin where you may see Dublin Castle, The Custom House and Trinity College Library en route to the first course of our tour: Druids Glen. Druids Glen is a stunning golf resort, situated just south of Dublin that offers two incredible championship courses, a beautiful clubhouse, and a 5-star hotel to top it all off! After enjoying either of the resort’s two championship courses, you can either stay at the resort and enjoy a peaceful end to your first day in Ireland or if you’d prefer our driver-guide will be on hand to take you back in the hustle and bustle of Dublin where you can make the most of the city’s fantastic range of bars and eateries. Day 2: The second day of our golfing tour starts as we head from Druids Glen or Dublin to play at The K Club. The K Club offers two 18-hole courses that were designed by the great Arnold Palmer back in 1991. Known for its lush greens and striking resemblance to American Parkland courses, the resort also has a beautiful restaurant where we can have a nice lunch before your second course of the day (no pun intended): The Mount Wolseley. Once you’ve got round the 18-hole championship course at The Mount Wolseley, you can enjoy dinner at the resort’s fantastic restaurant before nestling down for the night in one of its stunning contemporary rooms. Day 3: Day three starts quite early as we make the 3-hour drive up to the north of the island en route to Royal County Down Golf Club - one of the oldest courses in the country. Opening over 130 years ago, Royal County Down has two incredible 18-hole links courses and has had the pleasure of hosting significant events such as The Irish Open (1928, 1935, 2015), The Walker Cup (2007), and The Palmer Cup (2012). In the late afternoon and once your group and successfully navigated this beautiful (yet challenging) course, we’ll head to the Capital of the North: Belfast City. When we arrive in Belfast you may have time for a short city tour before arriving at your accommodation in the night in the city center - perfectly placed for your group to head out and enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife. Day 4: In the morning of Day Four, your driver-guide will take your group out of Belfast and over to the famous Royal Portrush Golf Club - which offers two fantastic 18-hole links courses; the crowned jewel of which is The Dunluce Links. After your round, we’ll stop for a spot of lunch before visiting Bushmills Distillery - the oldest working distillery on the island - and continuing onto Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (depending on how much whiskey the group got through in Bushmills) before returning you to Belfast for the evening. Day 5: On the final day of the Irish leg of your golf tour, we’ll head to Portstewart - where it is said that golf was played as far back as 1889! Once you’ve finished your round, we’ll head to Belfast airport where you can catch a flight over to Edinburgh and are collected by your local expert driver-guide to continue your golfing vacation in the home of golf: Scotland. Once you arrive in Scotland, your driver-guide will take you to your accommodation in the center of Edinburgh - stopping at a couple of sites in the city center en route. In the evening, you’ll get the chance to explore the streets of the Scottish capital and take advantage of the city’s wonderful selection of bars and eateries. Create Your Custom Tour Here Day 6: On your first day in Scotland, we waste no time in getting well acquainted with the history of golf on these rugged shores. We head north from Edinburgh, over the beautiful fourth road bridges to where it all began for golf: The Old Course at St Andrews. Considered the oldest course in the world, the Old Course (we’re very imaginative with names in Scotland) is a piece of history and a must-visit on any golf tour of the country! As your group is walking up the dramatic 18th fairway and across the iconic Swilcan Bridge, you’ll see the stunning Old Course Hotel - which can be your accommodation for Day Six of your golf tour and has walls adorned with a fascinating range of historic memorabilia. Day 7: Today we’ll head from St Andrews to play The Championship Course at Carnoustie; one of the most challenging courses on our tour. Golf is said to have been played at Carnoustie as far back as the 16th Century, making it one of the oldest golfing destinations in the world - with The Championship often regarded as one of the best courses in the world! Once you’ve got round The Championship (hopefully without losing too many balls), we’ll head across to another golfing monument in Scotland: Gleneagles Golf Resort. We’ll be slightly too late to fit 18-holes in at Gleneagles today, but the resort’s excellent hotel and restaurants are the perfect place to unwind and relax following a challenging (but hopefully memorable) day of golf! Day 8: Today we’ll wake up to some of the best views in Scottish Golf before deciding between one of Gleneagles’ incredible and stunningly beautiful courses: The King’s, The Queen’s, or The PGA Centenary Course (all designed by the great Jack Nicklaus. Once you’ve finished your round, we’ll drive to the north-east of Scotland to stay in Aberdeen - stopping along the way to visit a local whiskey distillery or two! Day 9: On the second-last day of your tour of Scotland, we’ve got a busy day of golf and one that we believe has some of the best views golf has to offer on the island. The first course of the day will be Cruden Bay; perched perfectly on the coastline, Cruden Bay is one of the most enjoyable courses to play in the country. Next, we’ll head back towards Aberdeen before stopping at the coastal town of Balmedie to visit the Trump International Golf Course - one of the newest courses in Scottish golf, but a fantastic course all the same! Finally, once you’re finished your round at Trump International, your driver-guide will take you back into Aberdeen and to your accommodation ahead of your final day on tour with us. Day 10: Unfortunately, all good things must eventually come to an end, but not before we’re able to get one last round in… In the morning of Day Ten, we’ll play Royal Aberdeen - situated close to the city center, but still providing unparalleled views of the Aberdeenshire coast and some truly incredible holes! Once you’ve finished your round, your driver-guide will take your group from Aberdeen, down the east coast (perhaps stopping en route at a castle or distillery or two) before heading Edinburgh where your tour of Ireland and Scotland will come to an end. The itineraries we offer on our site are a template, where we hope you can find out more about what you'd like to do and see in Scotland and Ireland, before getting in touch with our expert travel planners to design you a fully customized and truly unforgettable, private tour! Get a custom tour quote Day 1: Your private tour of Scotland in our beautiful capital city, Edinburgh, where your driver-guide will be waiting at the airport to greet you and welcome you to our bonnie shores! You and your driver-guide will then take you on a quick driving tour through the city center on your way to your accommodation for the first night, stopping whenever you’d like to for pictures or to just take in the views. We’ll drop your bags off at the hotel and make sure you’re comfortable with your rooms before heading out for a spot of traditional Scottish food for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll visit our first castle (and what a way to start): Edinburgh Castle. Taking pride of place atop the bustling city center, Edinburgh Castle is Scotland’s most important and famous castle due partly to its prestige and beauty and partly due it’s great significance in historical battles such as the Jacobite Uprising in 1745 and the Wars of Scottish Independence. Once you’ve finished exploring, your driver-guide will take you to Holyrood Palace before traveling to Arthur’s Seat (which overlooks the Old Town of Edinburgh) to enjoy the sunset on your first day in Scotland. In the evening, we recommend making the most of Edinburgh’s incredible selection of bars and restaurants. You might even want to schedule a private whiskey tasting session - just let your driver-guide know your preferences and tastes and we’ll organize it from there! Your accommodation for the night will be the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh City Center. Day 2: In the morning of Day Two, your driver-guide will take you from Edinburgh, across the River Forth and up towards Stirling where you will find our second Castle of the tour: Stirling Castle. The former residence of the Stewart Kings and Queens, Stirling Castle is one of the most significant in Scotland; with several Scottish Kings and Queens being crowned here over the years, including our perhaps most famous - Mary Queen of Scots. After a spot of lunch, we’ll travel to the Wallace Monument - a stunning historic structure that spikes up through the Stirling skyline like (quite fittingly) a sword. At the Wallace Monument, you will learn of the heroics and fascinating (albeit slightly gory) tales of the Guardian of Scotland: Sir William Wallace. In the evening, if you have spare time, you may want to visit the Old Town Jail - a brilliant tourist experience where you can step back in time to medieval Scotland. Your accommodation will in based in Stirling and the surrounding areas, allowing you to explore the town center throughout the evening and enjoying the numerous traditional bars and dining options. Day 3: On day three of your Castle tour, we’ll head to the West Coast of Scotland to visit Inveraray Castle - one of Europe’s earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture - based off the shores of the stunning Loch Fyne. Once you’ve explored the Castle we’ll stay in Inveraray for a spot of lunch before driving through the heart of Scotland to Fonab Castle - which will also be your accommodation for the night! Day 4: Today, once you’ve enjoyed your breakfast at Fonab Castle, we’ll travel to Blair Castle. One of our lesser-known castles, Blair has a fascinating history including hosting Mary Queen of Scots and a stay from Bonnie Prince Charlie just before the battle of Culloden. In the afternoon, we’ll travel to one of the most beautiful castles in the world: Glamis Castle in Angus. Glamis was the childhood home to Queen Elizabeth and has a fascinating history as well as beautiful grounds and exterior. In the evening, we’ll return to Fonab Castle where you’ll spend the night. Day 5: Today, you and your driver-guide will spend the morning traveling to and exploring Balmoral Castle, a Royal Estate in Aberdeenshire where the Queen visits every summer. A private residence of the Royal Family since 1852, the site offers fascinating exhibitions, stunning grounds, gardens and a ballroom to boot! After a stop for lunch, we’ll travel to the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and visit Braemar Castle. Constructed in 1628 to defend the Mar Estates from nearby clans, you’ll have the chance to step back in time and learn the stories of the castle’s interesting history. You and your driver-guide will then travel to Inverness for your accommodation for the night. Create Your Custom Tour Here Day 6: Day six of your castle tour of Scotland started off with a morning visit to Cawdor Castle. Known for its connection to Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, there are tales of the castle being built around a thorn tree that dates all the way back to the 14th Century. From Cawdor Castle, we’ll drive to Glenfinnan Viaduct - most notably known for its appearances in the Harry Potter films - before spending the afternoon traveling to and exploring Eileen Donan Castle. Eileen Donan Castle is one of the most recognizable castles in Scotland, located on a small tidal island in the western highlands, and in recent years has featured as a filming location in productions such as ‘Highlander’, ‘James Bond: The World Is Not Enough’, and the ‘Outlander’ series. Indeed, it’s beauty and uniqueness has made Eileen Donan the most photographed castle in Scotland (although I’m sure a few more won’t hurt). In the evening, we’ll travel to Inverlochy Castle - which is also your accommodation for the night! Day 7: All good things most, unfortunately, come to an end, and so we leave Inverlochy Castle on the final day of your tour and travel down the west coast of Scotland - driving through the stunningly beautiful Glencoe and round Loch Lomond to reach Glasgow. Here, we’ll spend the afternoon trying some excellent local restaurants, before visiting the Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery and Glasgow Cathedral before returning you to the airport in time for your flight. Your driver-guide will assist you to the check-in desks to make sure there is no last-minute problems and wish you a safe flight, leaving you with fond memories and an immersive experience of Scotland’s greatest Castles. 4 Day Private Outlander Tour Itinerary All our driver guides have 15+ years experience: keeping you safe & informed Our custom tours allow you to visit every destination you want, in your own time Personal in-country tour expert to help you design the perfect custom vacation Your custom private tour of Scotland Customize your vacation to suit your needs Before we look at the following itinerary, remember that all our custom tours and itineraries can be completely customized to suit you and your group! The itineraries we offer on our site are a template, where we hope you can find out more about what you'd like to do and see in Scotland and Ireland, before getting in touch with our expert travel planners to design you a fully customized and truly unforgettable, private tour! Get a custom tour quote Day 1: We start our 4 Day Outlander tour in Scotland’s beautiful capital city, Edinburgh; where Jamie and Claire dramatically reunited after 20 years! You and your driver-guide will explore the cobbled streets of the new and old towns of Edinburgh to get a feel for the city and why it was the perfect destination for Jamie and Claire’s reunion, before visiting some of the city’s iconic destinations with your driver-guide, such as Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. Next, you and your driver-guide head to Hopetoun House and explore it's wonderful gardens and estate. To bring your first day in our bonnie wee country to an end, your driver-guide will take you to The Balmoral Hotel (your accommodation for the night). The Balmoral is a beautiful and iconic victorian masterpiece in the center of Edinburgh, truly the ideal location for your group to explore the city’s vibrant nightlife, selection of restaurants and bars throughout the evening. Day 2: Day Two of this Outlander tour focuses on a couple of significant filming locations from the series. In the morning, you and your driver-guide will leave Edinburgh and head to Midhope Castle - the filming location for ‘Lallybroch’, Jamie Fraser’s family home. We’ll explore the castle and spend time learning about how the castle was used in the series before heading to our second destination and second castle of Day Two: Blackness Castle. Blackness was used to represent the town of Fort William in the series - more recently being used in the Mary Queen of Scots blockbuster movie - and it’s dramatic position of the edge of Firth of Forth. If you’re all ‘castle’d’ out, your driver-guide will take you from Blackness Castle, over the magnificent Queensferry bridge en route to the quaint village of Culross. In Outlander, the village of Culross was used as the filming location of Cranesmuir and unlike many filming locations that transform when put on the big screen… Culross is almost exactly the same as seen in the series; turning this small village into one of the most incredible immersive experiences for any Outlander fan. From Culross, we drive to Stirling where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation for the night ahead of a big Day Three! Day 3: Day Three starts off with a visit to the nearby Stirling Castle (I know… it’s not strictly Outlander-based, but while we’re in the area) to learn about it’s fascinating royal and bloody history! We continue our morning by paying a visit to Doune Castle (known by Outlander fans as Castle Leoch), a medieval fortress in Stirling used throughout the series. Indeed, Doune Castle is a popular filming destination for producers with both Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy Grail using the castle’s distinct exterior to add that authentic medieval feel. After a busy morning, it’s time to sit back and relax as your driver-guide escorts you across Central Scotland and up towards the West Coast. As we’re approaching the coast you’ll be greeted by the stunning Glencoe Mountains (our final Outlander destination in Day Three). As you see this dramatic and beautiful mountain range, you’ll soon realize exactly why the producers gave it pride of place in the opening credits and featured the region numerous times throughout the series. If you have time, you might want to take a quick Gondola trip up Ben Nevis (which can provide an unparalleled view of Scotland’s West Coast) before driving to Fort William where you’ll find your accommodation for the last night of our tour. Day 4: On our final day on this wonderful Outlander tour experience, we head to where it all began: Kinloch Rannoch. Kinloch Rannoch was the famous location of the standing stones where Claire was first transported back in time and although the standing stones were just props created for the show, it is still well worth a visit thanks to its breathtaking natural scenery. Following that, your driver-guide will take you to the village of Pitlochry which was used to represent North Carolina in the Outlander series. We’ll explore the village and possibly pay a visit to a local traditional eatery, whisky distillery, or bar before returning to Edinburgh where your tour will come to a close. Considered the oldest golf course in the world, playing the Old Course feels like taking part in a piece of history. Your driver-guide will meet you as your walking up the 18th fairway - where you might want to get a picture as your group crosses the iconic Swilcan Bridge - before packing up your clubs into your luxury vehicle and heading to the next and final course of your Scottish tour: Carnoustie. Carnoustie is also one of the oldest golf courses in the world - golf having been recorded as being played here as far back as the 16th Century - and is regarded by many as one of the most challenging and best courses that Scotland has to offer. With stunning views across the east coast of Scotland, Carnoustie offers visitors a choice of four courses, however, we’d recommend the Championship Course. Finally, once you’ve finished your round at Carnoustie, you and your driver-guide will travel down the East Coast of Scotland en route to Edinburgh Airport, where your tour will finish. Your driver-guide will help your group with their bags and drop you off at your check-in desks to make sure you have no last-minute hic-ups, before saying goodbye and wishing you a safe flight. The ultimate chauffeur vacation in Scotland Customize your vacation to suit your needs Despite being a relatively small country geographically, Scotland really does have it all when it comes to outstanding natural beauty, dramatic sites of historical significance and fantastic wee towns and cities to enjoy a chat with the locals or do some shopping. We have listed some highlights below, but rest assured that your private driver-guide will be happy to help you plan out the perfect itinerary for your stay. The Highlands & Islands Where to start!? It is not difficult to see why the region was named as a top 10 destination in Lonely Planet’s ‘Best In Travel 2019’. Absolutely jaw-dropping scenery, historic castles, romantic ruins, majestic wildlife, picturesque quaint little towns and of course friendly and hospitable locals, the highlands and Islands really is the Scotland of your dreams. Oh, and did we forget to mention that the region is home to the tallest mountain in the UK - the imperious Ben Nevis and also home to one of our most famous citizens, deep below the glistening waters of Loch Ness! Golf, whisky & castles galore Three things that we Scots can proudly claim to do better than anyone in the world. Known as the home of Golf we can boast over 550 courses for you to play on, including the world-renowned old course at St Andrew's. Whisky Galore is the name of a famous old film about a small Scottish island running out of whisky, but with over 120 active distilleries in the country, there is little chance of that happening today! No trip to Scotland would be complete without a taste of the water of life - or ‘uisge-beatha’ in Scots Gaelic. Wherever you find yourself in Scotland, you will never be too far away from one of our spell-binding castles steeped in centuries of legend and majesty. With so many castle sites it can be hard to know where to start, but our experienced driver guides can help you plan your visit to see some of our most iconic fortresses, or if you would prefer we can visit a more off the beaten path to visit a more romantic clifftop ruin. Take some time out with a city break Scotland isn’t all kilted men in picturesque little fishing villages you know! Our larger cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow have a well-earned reputation as being world shopping centres, and very few places in the world can compare with the stunning architecture of our city streets while you search for the perfect souvenir to bring home from your Scottish tour. Indeed the main shopping street in Edinburgh is overlooked by the sublime beauty of Edinburgh Castle, while Glasgow's Buchanan street in the city centre commands the second-highest retail rent fees of anywhere in the UK for good reason. Scottish film & TV location tours Whether it's the frankly gorgeous scenery used to outstanding effect in the Outlander tv series, or the instantly recognizable railway bridge so synonymous with the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter, it is not difficult to understand why our dramatic and atmospheric landscapes so commonly feature in some of Hollywood’s biggest hits. If you are a fan of any of these series then make sure to let your driver know before you arrive and we will build it into your custom itinerary. 6 Day Private Scottish Castle Tour Itinerary All our driver guides have 15+ years experience: keeping you safe & informed Our custom tours allow you to visit every destination you want, in your own time Personal in-country tour expert to help you design the perfect custom vacation Your custom private castle tour of Scotland Customize your vacation to suit your needs Scotland is home to some of the most majestic, iconic and romantic castles to be found anywhere on the planet. Our 6-day driver guided castle itinerary has been designed so you can visit a selection of these beautiful and historically significant castles on your vacation, but also to ensure that you will have the chance to experience the astonishing natural beauty and vibrant cities that Scotland has to offer. Take a look at our suggested 6-day Scottish castle itinerary below, or if you would like to find out how we can customize an itinerary to suit your needs then get in touch using our online contact form. Get a custom tour quote Day 1: Your private driver will collect you in the morning as we begin the tour in our stunning capital city of Edinburgh. To begin with, you can enjoy the gorgeous panoramic views from ‘Arthur’s seat’ - the main peak of a group of hills located just outside the city. From here you can truly appreciate the scale and structural beauty of the castle and capture some wonderful photos. The castle itself offers hours of intrigue and attractions. Over the course of your time here you can explore the Great Hall, which was constructed in the early 16th century, gaze upon the oldest set of crown jewels anywhere in the UK, take in the Scottish National War Memorial and much much more. We will also ensure that your visit to the castle coincides with the one o’clock gun a daily tradition of firing a cannon that dates back to 1861. Once you’ve finished exploring, your driver-guide will take you on a short trip to the 16th century Holyroodhouse Palace - the official residence of the queen in Scotland. In the evening, your chauffeur can recommend the best spots to enjoy some locally sourced produce for dinner and suggest where to enjoy a ‘tipple’ or two in the city’s incredible selection of bars and restaurants. Day 2: We will set off on the second day of your castle tour by taking the scenic drive from Edinburgh towards Stirling. On the way, you can take plenty of pictures as we cross the Forth Road Bridge and stop at Bannockburn to see the statue of Robert the Bruce that stands on the site of the famous battleground. Given its dominance over the skyline of the city, you cannot fail to be impressed as Stirling Castle comes into view on the drive. Built between the early 12th century and the year 1600, the castle has a special place in Scottish history as home to generations of Scottish Kings and Queens. it will be no surprise to find out that the castle’s lore includes figures such as Mary Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, and Bonnie Prince Charlie. In the afternoon your chauffeur will drive you to the Wallace Monument - a stunning 220-foot tall structure built-in memory of Scotland’s guardian William Wallace - who of course was the figure that the movie Braveheart was based upon. Here you can learn all about this vitally important figure from Scotland's history and even see the ‘Wallace Sword’ a large two-handed weapon measuring over 5ft in length believed to have belonged to Wallace himself. In the evening, your private driver-guide will be happy to suggest fascinating historic locations and spots of interest around the old town alongside providing recommendations for the best places to enjoy Stirling’s numerous traditional bars and dining options. Day 3: On day three of your Castle tour, we will drive to the West Coast of Scotland to visit Inveraray Castle - the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of one of the most famous Scottish Highland Clans - the Clan Campbell. Inveraray Castle is one of Europe’s earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture and its setting just off the shores of the exquisite Loch Fyne makes it an unmissable destination on your castle tour of Scotland. Thanks to its spectacular beauty, it is easy to understand why the producers of the hugely popular ‘Downton Abbey series selected Inveraray castle to feature on the show as ‘Duneagle Castle’. Day 4: We have two castles planned for today, beginning in the morning when your private driver will take you to Balmoral Castle - a grade A listed building owned by the Royal Family and residence for the Queen who spends a week here each year in Summer. Balmoral castle is located on a royal estate containing Grouse Moors, lush forestry and herds of Deer, Highland Cows and Highland Ponies. The castle exhibitions and grounds will be open to the public from the 1st of April to the 31st of July so if your Scottish vacation coincides with these dates then it would be a shame not to view the splendor of Balmoral castle in all its glory. Day 5: We will begin the morning with a visit to Cawdor Castle in Nairnshire in the Highlands. Cawdor Castle has a very unique origin story indeed. The structure was constructed around a Holly Tree - and in fact, you can still see the remains of this tree in the lower levels of one of the towers. Scientific testing has demonstrated that the tree died in approximately 1372 which suggests the castle itself is even older. We will then travel to Glenfinnan Viaduct - perhaps the most picturesque section of railroad bridge in the world and notable for its appearances in the Harry Potter films - before spending the afternoon traveling to and exploring Eileen Donan Castle. Eileen Donan Castle located on a small tidal island in the western highlands is one of the most recognizable castles in Scotland, and in recent years has featured as a filming location in productions such as ‘Highlander’, ‘James Bond: The World Is Not Enough’, and the ‘Outlander’ series. Indeed, it’s beauty and uniqueness has earned Eileen Donan the reputation as being the most photographed castle in Scotland. Day 6: On your final day of the tour, your driver will take you on a guided tour down the west coast of Scotland - driving through the achingly beautiful Glencoe before arriving at Doune Castle. Constructed in the 13th Century, the castle saw military action in the Scottish Wars of Independence, The Wars of the Three Kingdoms and the Jacobite Risings amongst other battles. We will draw our tour to a close driving through the tranquil Loch Lomond and spending some time in Glasgow where you will want to visit Glasgow Cathedral and try some of the excellent local restaurants, before returning to the airport in time for your flight. Get a custom tour quote Day 1: Welcome muggles to our wonderful private Harry Potter Tour of Scotland! We’ve tried to include as much Harry Potter destinations into a four-day tour of Scotland, however, if you have a bit more time on our bonnie wee shores, this same itinerary can be stretched out to give you a bit more time at each destination or to include some destinations we’ve not got in this itinerary. So without further ado, let’s see what we’ve got planned for your Harry Potter vacation. Your driver-guide will be waiting to greet you off your plane in Edinburgh and welcome you to our bonnie wee land before showing you to your luxury tour vehicle. From the airport, we’ll drive through the City Center, stopping at any of the city’s numerous fantastic tourist destinations on the way to your accommodation in the city center: The Balmoral Hotel. Once you’ve dropped your bags, checked-in and had a chance to freshen up after your flight, we’ll spend the rest of the morning exploring the Old Town of Edinburgh, where you’ll see the cobbled streets, winding alleys and architecture that inspired JK Rowling when she penned the Harry Potter series. Next, we’ll stop at The Elephant House for a spot of lunch and coffee. Providing visitors with spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle, The Elephant House is known as the birthplace of the Harry Potter series as it is in this small, quaint cafe that J.K. Rowling started to write the series. Indeed, Rowling was an avid fan of Edinburgh cafes while penning the iconic series, as you’ll see when we visit Spoon (previously Nicholson Cafe) another cafe famous for hosting the author frequently during the development of ‘Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone’. In the afternoon, your driver-guide will take you for a walk around Greyfriars Kirkyard; a burial yard filled with notable Scottish academics and authors, the names of which you may recognize from the series such as Thomas Riddell, William McGonagall, and Elizabeth Moddie! Finally, you and your driver-guide may have enough time in the day to take a short walk up Authur’s Seat, where you can catch a beautiful sunset over Edinburgh’s Old Town before returning to your accommodation. Funnily enough, The Balmoral Hotel (your accommodation for the first night of your Harry Potter tour) was also where J.K. Rowling stayed when she wrote the final chapter of the last book of the series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In the evening, you may want to venture out to Edinburgh City Center to take advantage of the city’s delightful selection of bars and restaurants or enjoy a well-deserved rest at The Balmoral ahead of a busy second day! Day 2: On the morning of the second day of your private Harry Potter tour of Scotland, we leave our beautiful capital Edinburgh and travel the country’s largest city: Glasgow. Your driver-guide can give you a quick tour of the city center before your group heads to Glasgow beautiful West End, and Glasgow University. Once you arrive, you will be able to instantly appreciate just where J.K. Rowling got her inspiration for Hogwarts from… Originally built back in 1451, Glasgow University is the fourth-oldest English-speaking university in the world and looks almost identical to the series’ school of witchcraft and wizardry. Once you’ve explored the university’s grounds and buildings, we’ll stop for some lunch at one of the West End’s beautiful eateries before driving to Fort William. En route, we’ll stop at Moor of Rannoch (the place where the death eaters board the train in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1), and through Glencoe, where, if we’re on time, you’ll have the chance to witness the sun setting over the beautiful Ben Nevis area. That evening, your driver-guide will drop you off at your accommodation for the night and allow you time to explore the quaint wee town’s traditional bars and restaurants. Day 3: On day three of our Harry Potter tour, your driver-guide will take you for a short drive from your hotel to the Jacobite Steam Train to Mallaig, which fans of the series will recognize instantly as ‘The Hogwarts Express’. Your group will get to ride the train in your own private carriage (as seen in the Harry Potter movies) for just under two hours before you reach Mallaig - where your driver-guide will be waiting to greet you and continue your tour. Throughout the train journey, you’ll travel over the Glenfinnan Viaduct (shown in numerous Harry Potter films) as well as a beautiful view of Loch Shiel (where you’ll also recognize from the series). In the afternoon in Mallaig, your driver-guide will take you to the Heritage Center and some fantastic local eateries before a short tour of Scotland’s stunning west coast. Your group has the option of hopping back on the Hogwarts express to Fort William in the evening, or if you’d prefer, your driver-guide can take you across the rural roads where you can stop for pictures of the Glenfinnan Viaduct from a distance or visit various other tourist attractions along the way before returning to your accommodation for the night. Day 4: As we enter the final day of your Scottish Harry Potter tour, your driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Fort William to take you to the beautiful Glencoe Area. One of the first destinations in this stunning mountain range is Steall Falls (a waterfall which features in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when Harry faces a Hungarian Dragon) which requires a short trek into the Nevis range. Next, your driver-guide will take your group to Loch Etive - a beautiful loch south of Glencoe where Harry and the gang are dropped after fleeing from Gringott’s Bank in the final movie. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy a dip yourself (although that’d quite literally be an immersive experience), you can still appreciate and explore the area by foot, taking pictures of the surrounding glen and its dramatic peaks. In the evening, your driver-guide will take you down the West Coast of Scotland and back to Glasgow or Edinburgh (depending on your onward journey) in time for your flight. And alas, our magical Harry Potter tour of Scotland must come to an end; your driver-guide will escort you to your check-in desk to make sure of no last-minute issues before wishing you farewell and a safe onward journey. We hope to leave you with fantastic memories, a new friend over the sea, and a longing to return to our bonnie wee country in the future. Day 8: Your driver guide will collect you bright and early as you make your way towards the west coast of Scotland on a two hour drive to the prestigious Trump Turnberry Golf Club. The iconic Ailsa Course at Trump Turnberry is one of the country’s best courses, with spectacular views of the Ayrshire coast, the Island of Arran and Aila Craig. After 18-holes at Trump Turnberry, we’ll stay for a spot of lunch before driving north to Scotland’s biggest city: Glasgow. Once we arrive, we’ll drop your baggage off at your hotel before heading out for a quick city tour, where depending on your preferences there are lots to do and see! Glasgow is famous for its lively nightlife and your guide will be sure to advise you on the best places to visit for a tipple or two in the evening! Day 9: Some serious Golf planned for today as we make the drive from Glasgow to Gleneagles Golf Resort, a world famous and award winning luxury golf resort and 5 star hotel and spa. Some of Scotland’s (and indeed the world’s) finest and most beautiful courses can be found here including The King’s, The Queen’s, and The PGA Centenary Course - designed by the Golden bear himself, Jack Nicklaus. The afternoon provides a fantastic opportunity for your driver to take you to the nearby historic town of Stirling where you can visit some outstanding attractions such as Stirling castle and the Wallace Monument. Your group may wish to retire back to the gleneagles resort to stay at the magnificent 5-star hotel for the night. Day 10: A special day for any Golf lover, because today your private driver guide will chauffeur you to the ‘Home of Golf”: St. Andrews.Generally recognised as the oldest golf course in the world, the legendary Old Course at St. Andrews. Aside from its heritage, the Old Course is renowned for having hosted the Open Championship no less than 29 times since all the way back in 1873. Playing at St. Andrews is a real bucket list occasion and allows players to make themselves a part of the wonderful history of the course. As you and your group are walking up the 18th fairway, you’ll cross the iconic Swilcan Bridge to see the beautiful Old Course Hotel in the background, which will also be your accommodation for the night. Create your custom tour now Day 11: From one iconic golf course to another! With just a short one hour drive between locations, you will arrive at the hallowed Championship Course at Carnoustie. While St Andrews holds the title as the home of the game, Golf is recorded being played at Carnoustie as far back as the 16th Century - making it one of the oldest golfing destinations in the world. This stunning and iconic golf club offers players a choice of three courses, with all of the ranked in the top 50 Links courses in the UK. The crown jewel of which (The Championship Course) is regarded as one of the best (and most difficult) courses in the world. Once you’ve had your fill of golf for the day, we’ll drive up to the north-east of Scotland to stay in Aberdeen City Center - possibly stopping along the way at a Scotch distillery or two. Day 12: When it comes to historic and prestigious course nowhere can quite match Scotland, and today your driver guide will take your group to another of the oldest and most prized courses in the land, The Royal Aberdeen. Teeing off amidst the stunning backdrop of the Aberdeen Coast is really something to behold and makes The royal Aberdeen one of our personal favourites. From Aberdeen, we’ll head north - following the coast - for about half an hour before we reach our second course of the day: Trump International. A simply stunning links course sitting on the coast and surrounded by sand dunes, Trump International is one of Scotland’s newest courses but makes up for its lack of history with some of the best holes you will find in world golf and some of the greatest views in Scottish golf. Once you’ve finished your round, we can visit some local restaurants and bars before returning to your accommodation for the night. Day 13: On the final day of your golf tour of Scotland, we’ll travel from Aberdeen to Royal Dornoch - stopping along the way for a spot of lunch. Referred to by many as the ‘King of Scottish Links Courses’ we couldn’t think of a better way to finish your golf tour than with Royal Dornoch’s Championship Course; situated beside the Dornoch Firth this is said to be the third oldest course in the world. Offering fantastic views of the Scottish countryside, Royal Dornoch is one of Scotland’s best courses and is the perfect way to remember our wee country and your private golf tour. Day 14: Today marks your final day of this ultimate golfing tour of Ireland and Scotland, and while you might be done with the golf for this vacation (and i’m sure your arms will be aching from all the Golf played so far anyway!) we still have time to make some lasting memories as we take the scenic driving route back to either Edinburgh or Dublin to catch your flight home. We would like to mention again that the above itinerary is merely a suggestion, and we understand that many of our clients would prefer a more relaxed pace to their golfing tour or perhaps intersperse their Golfing locations with some more time spent appreciating the various sights and sounds of our two respective nations. . All of this can be arranged by getting in touch with our driver guides and requesting a custom golf tour tailored to your requirements and preferences. You’ll be escorted to your luxury tour vehicle and driven through the city center for a quick tour where you will see the Garden of Remembrance, The Custom House and Dublin Castle (dating back to the 13th Century), as well as the colorful Doors of Dublin - a very significant part of Dublin’’s rich history. Now that we’re slightly better acquainted with the city, we’ll head to our first whiskey activity of your vacation with a visit, tasting, and tour at The Teeling Distillery. Although The Teeling Family has been distilling whiskey since 1782, The Teeling Distillery and Visitors Center only opened in Dublin in 2015, hoping to immerse locals and tourists alike in the family incredible history and the story of its Irish whiskey. Once you’ve finished your tour and tasting at The Teeling Distillery, we’ll head back to your accommodation for the night in the center of Dublin - perfectly located for you to make the most of the city’s famously vibrant bars and restaurants. Day 2: On the second day of your whiskey tour, we’ll head down from Dublin to visit the Walsh Distillery at Royal Oak. Another incredible tour experience, The Walsh Distillery at Royal Oak opened in 2016, although Walsh has been distilling since 1999. Once your group is finished with their immersive tour and tasting experience, we’ll head north to the world-famous Tullamore Dew Distillery. Tullamore Dew has been active since 1829 and offers fans from around the world the chance to get up-close and personal with one of the world’s most famous distillers. Finally, once you’ve explored the distillery and enjoyed its comprehensive tasting menu, we’ll head west and arrive at your accommodation in Galway. Galway itself is a wonderfully charismatic and picturesque harbor town that, despite being small in size, is bustling with character and is known as the cultural heart of Ireland for good reason. Day 3: After breakfast at your accommodation and a short stroll around Galway City in the morning, your driver-guide will take you down the coast to visit the famous Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs stretch for five miles around the Atlantic coast, reaching an incredible 668 feet at their peak and are without doubt one of the most impressive coastlines that Ireland has to offer. We’ll take a short hike to see the cliffs in all their glory before driving to the Jameson Distillery Midleton Museum. Based on the site of the Old Midleton Distillery, this incredible tasting tour and experience is one of our favorites as it gives visitors a taste of the distillery’s rich past. Finally, your driver-guide will take you to your accommodation in Cork, with enough time left in the evening to take advantage of some of the excellent dining options and vibrant bars in the city. Day 4: On Day Four of your whiskey tour, we’ll head north towards Dublin, stopping en route at the famous Rock of Cashel. The Rock of Cashel is a historically significant group of medieval fortifications situated on prominent limestone outcrops in Golden Vale and is famous for being the place where St Patrick chose to make the head of his church in Ireland. Once you’ve finished exploring the beautifully dramatic church, we’ll drive to Glendalough Distillery for a tour and tasting; Glendalough is one of Ireland’s newest whiskey producers but are certainly making a splash in the Irish whiskey market with their impressive blends and interactive tour and tasting experience. From Glendalough, we’ll head back to your accommodation in the center of Dublin - if you’d like to have one last Irish whiskey experience, we can organize a private tasting at one of the city’s wonderful whiskey bars. Day 5: As we reach the midpoint of your whiskey tour, we drop the ‘e’ and head over to Scotland, the home of Scotch whisky! Your local Scottish driver-guide will be waiting to collect you off your short flight from Dublin to Edinburgh and welcome you to the greatest wee country in the world! From the airport, your driver-guide will take you on a short tour of Edinburgh city center, where you will see the famous Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and drive the Royal Mile before we drive over to Pencaitland to visit Glenkinchie Distillery for a tour and tasting experience. Glenkinchie’s tour is one of the country’s oldest tour/tasting experiences after it converted two factory floors of the distillery into a museum of malt whisky - combining incredible flavor with more than a hint of historical significance! Once your group has finished the Glenkinchie museum tour, your driver-guide will take you back into Edinburgh and drop you off at your hotel in the city center where you can explore the city’s fine array of bars and restaurants ahead of your first full day in Scotland. Create Your Custom Tour Here Day 6: On Day Six of our whisky tour of Scotland and Ireland, we’ll head north from Edinburgh to Blair Athol Distillery. Blair Athol Distillery distills it’s namesake ‘Blair Athol Single Malt’ as well as Bell’s Whisky and has been open since 1798. Once you’ve finished your tour (as well as your tutored tasting of 5 Single Malts), we’ll make the short trip to our second distillery of the day: Edradour. The smallest traditional distillery in Scotland, Edradour is an incredible experience to include in any whisky tour - giving visitors an insight into traditional and smaller distillery which are vitally significant to the whisky market and whisky culture in Scotland. Finally, once you’re finished your tour and taken a small walk around the picturesque distillery compound, we’ll take the short drive to your accommodation in Pitlochry. Day 7: Today we’ll leave the beautiful town of Pitlochry and head for a morning visit to Dalwhinnie Distillery - where you’ll have the chance to taste the distillery’s unique blends and accompanying artisanal chocolates. Next, we’ll head across to the stunning West Coast of Scotland and to the Nevis Range. Here we’ll find the Ben Nevis Distillery (one of the oldest licensed distillery in Scotland) and take part in their tasting and tour before going on a short gondola trip up Ben Nevis for some incredible views over one of our favorite regions of our wee country! Finally, we’ll drive to the vibrant town of Fort William where you’ll find your accommodation for Day 7. Day 8: Today we finally venture out toward the famous Isle of Skye. En route from Fort William, we’ll head past the Glenfinnan Viaduct (made famous for its appearance in numerous Harry Potter movies) before arriving at the beautiful fishing port of Mallaig to get a ferry over to the Isle of Skye. Once we reach Skye we’ll take a short scenic drive to Talisker Distillery to take part in their tour and tasting before continuing our Skye whisky adventure with a visit to Torabhaig Distillery. Finally, after a busy day of sightseeing and whisky-drinking, we’ll head to your accommodation on Skye for the night. Day 9: Today we’ll start early by leaving the Isle of Skye via the Skye Bridge and stop at Eilean Donan Castle - the most photographed castle in Scotland (and for good reason!). Our first distillery of the day will be Speyside, which we will reach at the end of a scenic drive across the Highlands. Speyside Distillery is situated in the magnificent Cairngorm Mountains - and is known as Scotland’s prettiest distillery! Next on our distillery list is Glenlivet; founded back in 1824, Glenlivet Distillery is one of Scotland’s favorite whisky producers and it’s incredible tour and tasting experience is truly a must-do for any Scotch fan! Finally, we’ll drive through the Cairngorms to the town of Aviemore and to your accommodation for your final night in Scotland. Day 10: On the last day of your tour, we climb off of the Highlands and drive back down towards Edinburgh. En route though, we’ll have one last whisky stop for you to remember us by at Lindores Abbey Distillery. With the distillery’s links to the earliest written reference to Scotch Whisky, Lindores Abbey is a pilgrimage for any whisky lover and a fantastic final stop on our tour. Once you’re finished exploring the distillery and tasting its beautiful blends, your driver-guide will drive you back to the capital Edinburgh where your tour will come to a close… until next time that is!
