Welcome to your short three-day tour of the seven kingdoms (or at least all of the seven kingdoms that were filmed in Ireland…)!
This fantastically immersive Game of Thrones tour offers you the chance to get up close and personal with all your favorite filming locations as well as a chance to explore some of the island’s other tourist destinations (some of which inspired the cinematography we all love in HBO’s hit series).
Your three-day GOT tour starts in Dublin, where your personal driver-guide will be waiting to welcome you to our beautiful country at the arrivals gate before showing you to your luxury touring vehicle. From Dublin, we waste no time and head straight to ‘The North’ and visit the first of our Game of Thrones filming locations: The Haunted Forest.
Known to locals as Tollymore Forest Park, this was the location of numerous iconic scenes, such as the first time the audience is introduced to the White Walkers, where the Starks first come across their beloved Direwolves and where Ramsey ‘The Bastard of Bolton’ ruthlessly hunts Theon Greyjoy. From The Haunted Forest, we head to the home of the king of the north: Winterfell.
At Winterfell (Castle Ward), you’ll be able to explore the grounds and discover more about the challenges of filming the series in the castle and which parts of the site were used for which scenes. For those looking to truly immerse themselves in the ‘Known World’, you can also try your hand at some GOT-themed archery.
Next, your driver-guide will take you to Rob Starks camp from Season One (where he was honored as the King of the North); Inch Abbey. Once you’ve finished exploring the Abbey and surrounding areas, you and your driver-guide will head off for the capital of our ‘North’: Belfast.
Following a short drive around the City Center, you’ll arrive at your accommodation and have some time at night to take advantage of the city’s excellent selection of bars and restaurants.
Day two starts off with a visit to St. George’s Market to try some local cuisine before driving to the north coast to visit ‘The Iron Islands’.
The first filming location of the Iron Islands is the stunningly beautiful Castle Dunluce, which is the location for Castle Greyjoy. You’ll have a chance to explore this fascinating castle and learn more about the filming techniques used to transform the old structure into Castle Greyjoy. In the surrounding areas, fans of the series will recognize the beach where Theron first landed on Pyke Island.
Next, we’ll head to the nearby tourist attractions Carrick-a-Rede and Giants Causeway before heading to Murlough Bay - the filming location for Slavers’ Bay in Game of Thrones and where Tyrion and Ser Jorah were first captured by slavers.
In the evening, your driver-guide will take you back to Belfast, where you can either rest at your hotel after a long day touring - or if you still have a taste for some GOT-themed activities in the evening, you might want to explore the Game of Thrones Stain Glass Windows dotted around the city. These beautiful pieces are shattered around various tourist hotspots in the city and feature dramatic depictions of significant Game of Thrones scenes and characters.
On the final day of your private Game of Thrones tour in Ireland, we leave Belfast and head south to visit the Dark Hedges: a beautifully dramatic road used at the end of Season One when Arya starts her journey on the King’s Road.
If you have time before your flight, we’ll head from the Dark Hedges to Cushenden Caves - used to film the scene where Ser Davos brought the Red Women Ashore - and possibly Cairncastle (where Ned Stark excites the deserter of the Night’s Watch in the very first episode of the series).
In the afternoon, your driver-guide will escort you back to Dublin Airport where your private custom tour with us will finish. They will drop you off at your check-in desk and help you with your bags before wishing you a safe journey and saying goodbye… until next time that is.
